STREČNO – removal of unstable rock block

We participate on this project in cooperation with the company ARCADIS CZ a.s. The goal of the project is to remove an unstable rock block under the Strecno Castle. This implementation has no connection with the project “Rehabilitation of the rock cliff Strečno” that have been carried out since the beginning of 2017. Following an accidental identification of acute risk of collapse of this rock block on the pavement of 1st class road. This road replaces the highway D1 motorway between Žilina and Vrútky, which is under construction nowdays.  The crisis management decided to declare an extraordinary situation. This situation has a wide response in Slovakia. Bypass routes for traffic are overcrowded, there are traffic collapses and several hours delays. The freight transport has to use alternate route in some directions (Kysuce-Orava) up to 350 km. Communication closure, respectively the emergency works are supposed to finish at the end of July.
